Your dream blunt rotation is hitting the 6ix next week and we’re letting you in on the details. MIXTAPE (press play, no skips) is a music event created by KOHAI to celebrate the next wave of Asian excellence from LA, to Tokyo, Seoul and Toronto. After hosting successful events like the Regime Tour (featuring DPR IAN and DPR Live) and Know Us Better Tour (featuring Dean’s label: Tabber, Rad Museum, and Miso), will be blessing you with an unreal lineup. We’re excited to see what unfolds at MIXTAPE on November 21st at Toronto’s REBEL.
A familiar face is returning after many years away, building his new identity and founding a new company in the process. Dabin.kr (aka DPR Live) is coming back to the spotlight after a successful world tour in 2023 including global stages like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Head in the Clouds. He has made significant changes with his identity including a return to Korean name, creating an independent music label CTYL (Coming to You Live), and releasing a new album “Giggles” in 2024; this performance marks his first North American set since rebranding.
Though Filipino artist Jessica Domingo, a Seattle native, hasn’t performed in Toronto yet, her vocals have been in the ears of everyone there already. She was featured in Drake and PartyNextDoor’s recent album on the track “MOTH BALLS” last earlier this year so pretty sure she’s an honorary Canadian at this point. You could describe her recent work as “alternative R&B meets soul”, having successfully released her debut album “Butterfly Paradise”. She will be performing with Filipino artist Pastels, an Australian born, soundscape prodigy.
Gemini, a Korean artist that has been consistently active in both music (most recently performing at Head in the Clouds NYC and going on his first world tour) and fashion (attending Paris Fashion week, modeling for Calvin Klein and Dazed Korea, collaborating with Diesel, Off-White, and Amir), is back for the third time in Toronto. It seems that every time his name graces a bill, his dedicated audience spawns, no matter when or where, to experience his magnetic R&B sets that easily top the charts. You can always recognize him for his iconic blonde hair and effortless but stylish fits on stage - he’s not only an artist, but a multifaceted creative inspiration for many.
Hailing from Tokyo, Japan - Yuki Chiba joins our star-studded lineup. You may recognize his voice from his recent collaboration with Megan thee Stallion “Mamushi” that went viral and was nominated for the Best Trending Video at MTV’S VMAs in 2024. He’s also collaborated with the game VALORANT and artists like Frank Ocean, Keith Ape, Mariah Carey and Will Smith. He most recently dropped a track with Big Sean last month called “Ski Ga Ski”.
A surprise addition to the already incredible lineup, Korean singer pH-1 is locked in for Mixtape next week. He’s been a R&B favorite, testing the limits between pop and hip hop as well.
